Internships

We accept applications from qualified national and international candidates to serve in voluntary, semester-long internships where they will assist staff in a wide variety of projects, including research and advocacy, community mobilization, documentation, communications, technical support, the arts, and grassroots NGO administration.

N.B. Beginning in February 2012, JRP will implement an International Intern Contribution Scheme to strengthen JRP’s overall internship programme and make it more equitable for Ugandan students. Any international applicants who apply after January 31, 2012, will be subject to this scheme.

We are currently recruiting for the following intern positions:

Gender Justice Intern- JRP seeks a qualified Gender Justice Intern to assist the Gender Justice department in their activities this year. Qualified candidates should have a strong background in writing and editing, including formal and creative writing, and be proficient in English. Multimedia Intern- JRP seeks a Multimedia Intern to support the organization’s ICT, public relations and media strategies through multimedia outlets. An ideal candidate will have thorough knowledge of media production software and operating systems. S/he should have demonstrated experience in filming and production; a strong background in writing and editing (in both English and Luo); knowledge of IT and data management; experience in website maintenance and social networking; ability to produce results on a deadline with minimal supervision; and experience engaging with children and youth. Documentation Intern- JRP seeks a Documentation Intern to support the Community Documentation department in research, advocacy, and documentation projects, including but not limited to collecting and compiling data, and writing reports, statements, and briefs. This position is available beginning in early March, and preference will be given to candidates who are available for 6 months or longer. Documentary Filmmaker (Volunteer)- JRP’s Community Documentation department seeks a volunteer documentary filmmaker to spearhead the scripting, filming and production of a video documentation. This position is available immediately and requires a 2-3 month minimum commitment in Uganda.
